Synopsis
National Engineering is a large public sector company

manufacturing electrical goods.

Corporate office is located in the Industrial Suburb of
Bombay.
It has Fifteen Regional Sales & Distribution Units across
India.
Mr. R .Bhatia the Chairman of the Company.
Each regional unit headed by regional director.
Mr. S. Swaminathan the Regional Director of the
Companys Belanagar unit.
Mr. N. Gopal was the chief Auditor of Belanagar unit.

What do you think are the probable

reasons for Swaminathans Frequently
hostile stance towards Gopal?
The Personal equation between Gopal &

Swaminathan were, however, far from cordial.

Swaminathans adverse remarks had led Gopal to
miss his well deserved promotion the previous year.
For some inexplicable reason, Swaminathans
stance towards Gopal was Frequently Hostile, and
although the latter was known to be an upright and
trustworthy officer.
His directors in the internal Audit department
invariably found in Swaminathan a sympathetic ear.

What are your comments on the action taken by staff

union? What action the corporate personal director
should take regarding the staff union?

The Step which was taken by staff union was

inappropriate.
They shouldnt come to conclusion before
investigation

Why did Gopal Not pay Swaminathan back in

his own coin?Explain your answer?
Mr. Gopal did not allow interpersonal relations to distort his

judgment in the face of evidence available with him

Mr. S Swaminathan had not in fact flouted any rule or norm in
granting approval for purchases from AKW Company.
National Engineering and AKW had worked like sister concern in
the past also
Mr. Gopal had been a victim of the actions taken by Mr S
Swaminathan
Mr T Prasad a senior was interested in the promotion to the
higher post.
Mr. Gopal was not willing to compromise his professional
perfection.
Mr S Swaminathan was not involved in any wrong doing hence
Mr Gopal did not pay back in the same coin.

feeling happy for his true comments in the

and integrity. He have never wanted to
take any undue advantage and make other
innocent person in trouble.
