REGON 4A (CALABARZON)

-the group of people who most widely reside in

Palawan are called Tagbanua.( Taga means
people from and Banuwa meaning
countryside/upland)They are found in northern
central and southern part of Palawan. Tagbanua speak
Palawan, Bataka and Cuyunan. Tagbanua Society
composed of the Uripin(slaves), Duluan or
Timawa(Low Bloods), Ginuu(High Bloods) and
Masikampu(leaders).
-In the northern coast of Puerto princesa there are
people called the Batak(mountain people). The
Batak folk speeches are Liwad-liwad(jokes),
Paigumun(riddles), Tuturan(all kinds of stories) and
Kinto(stories)

-Composed of provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas,

Rizal and Quezon.
-Formerly the largest and most densely populated
region before the region is split into two (region 4A
and 4B)

REGION 4B (MIMAROPA)
-Composed of six provinces namely Mindoro,
(Occidental and Oriental) Marinduque, Romblon and
Palawan.

MINDORO
-Formerly known as Mait (by Chinese traders before
Spanish era)
-People who reside in Mindoro are called Mangyan
(Hanunoo Mangyan claims that they are the true
mangyans)
-The name is derived from the spanish word Mina de
oro (Mine of gold)
-On June 13, 1950, under republic act no. 505, Mindoro
was divided into two provinces, Occidental and
Oriental Mindoro.

the river which drains into san Miguel bay.
Other possible origins are bikul or
bikal(Bamboo tree) Bikod(twisted)

This region is composed of six provinces

namely Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur,
Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon and Masbate.
