LAB 10: PCB Design from ISIS to ARES

1) This tutorial covers a simple schematic with a single PIC microcontroller and
some other components. Make the following schematic in ISIS.

2) After completing the schematic in ISIS, click on tools->import netlist to

ARES
ARES will automatically open.

3) Now in Proteus ARES, select the block option from left toolbar and also make
sure that you selected Board Edge in the below drop down menu as shown:

4) Make a rectangular block in the workspace, this block is actually the boundary of

your PCB.

5) Select the component option from the left toolbar, it will show all the components

used in your circuit.

6) Place all these components in the workspace one by one as shown below. The

green lines show connections corresponding to the schematic made earlier.

7) There are two ways to add routing; auto and manual routing. For auto routing, click
on Tools->Auto Router as shown below:

At this point the routing properties box will open that allows you to set the width of
the connections and PCB layers etc. The ARES software will automatically route the
connections for you resulting in a diagram similar to the one below:

8) For manual routing, For manual routing select the option shown in below
figure and start making connections like you did in the schematic previously.

9) The complete circuit should be printed on paper to proceed with the next
steps.

Tasks:
1) Draw the schematic for H-bridge. (To be submitted in schematic format, NOT
jpeg /image).
2) Convert to PCB format using ARES and route all connections. Explain any
gaps and differences in your PCB.
3) Take a printout of your project with name of group members in lower right
hand corner.
