Sea-nymph seagrass
meadows are
nurseries for baby
sea animals,
providing shelter and
protection from
bigger animals and
food to help them
grow.
Ecklonia radiata is
used in fertilizer
products, personal
care products,
shampoos,
conditioners, day
creams, night
creams, toners,
scrubs, and washes.
Unlike coral,
rhodoliths do not
attach themselves to
the rocky seabed.
Rather, they drift like
tumbleweeds along
the seafloor until
they grow heavy
enough to settle and
form brightly colored
beds

colour from a veriaty
of pigments the most
important pigment is
phycoerythrin, which
provides the algae's
red pigmentation by
reflecting red light
and absorbing blue
