You are in a foreign country and the exchange rate is 6 pesos per dollar. In other
words 1 dollar is worth six pesos. We can use the relation of p=6d to determine
how many pesos I can receive for each dollar. Fill in the box to see how much you
receive for 1 dollar, 2 dollars, etc.

Mr. Snail is tooling along at 6 inches per minute (he is a speedy snail). If
distance=rate x time and we count Mr. Snails progress at 1 minute, 2 minutes, 3
minutes, etc. what will the dependent variable tell us? Is this similar to the
previous problem?

Graph both relationships. For the first table, graph the relationship with dollars on the x axis and pesos on the y
axis. For the second table, graph the relationship with time on the x axis and distance on the y axis.

Using the same logic, if Mr. Snail starts at 10:00, where will he be at 10:15?? He will have traveled 90 inches

A runner runs at a rate of four minutes per mile. Can you graph this rate and function? If he starts at 10:00 am,
where will he be at 10:12? He will have run 3 miles
Fred is painting a room and paints at a rate of 25 square feet per hour. His room is 100 square feet, when will he
be done painting his room? In 4 hours

Graph this relationship. What if he wanted to paint a room that was 200 square feet? 175? How long would that
take him? 8 hours, 7 hours
