MAY 2015

VOL 6 ISSUE 2

What a Spring!
Banner Turkey Season!
SRO fall success carried right into the spring when
turkey season kicked off on April 6th. We had 24 Rios
and 15 Easterns to harvest before the end of the
season on May 6th. Our guides were up to the task and
we hit the ground running. We welcomed back many
returning clients and new friends were made as the
season went along. We were able to get a few clients
their first turkeys while some were veterans in the
turkey woods. SRO was the final stop for a grand slam
pursuit, which is always an honor for us when our
clients are able to finish the pursuit with us! We were
fortunate enough to host two nationally aired TV
shows as well during the 2014 season. Mossy Oak,
Turkey Thugs sent Bob Walker down to chase
Easterns with us. Fortunately after some tough
weather Bob was able to make a film star out of a great
Eastern. Final Descent Outdoors also came out with
the camera gear and filmed, Lt. Col Jason Whittle of
the United States Air Force killed his first turkey ever.
Overall, when the dust cleared 21 Rios had hit the dirt
with only three hunters going home without their
second bird and all hunters going home with at least
one for a 100% success rate. There was just as much
success east of I-35 as well with 10 Easterns being
harvested with a 67% success rate. Thank you to all of
our clients for hunting with us and we are looking
forward to chasing thunder chickens again next
spring. If you want to see some of the hunts from this
season be sure to check out FaceBook and Vimeo

Rain, Rain and more Rain

Oklahoma is having one of the wettest springs on
record. As I write this 5-8 fell in Jefferson Co. last
night. We are blessed to have this moisture. Lake
levels are coming up, ponds are overflowing, creeks
are full and available forage is high. This is truly a
blessing from God! With all this being said, the 20152016 season is looking like it could be a great one!

What a weekend these guys had this spring!

Waurika Division Deer Hunts

This will be our second year to book deer hunts
at the Waurika Division. We spent 2014 learning
and still had great success rates (100% archery
with shot opportunities and a 60% success rate
during rifle season), we are expecting a better
year in 2015. We have a much better
understanding how deer act and how to go about
hunting them. New Boss Buck blinds and
feeders will be put out in areas that quite literally
havent been hunted in years. If you are looking
for un-pressured hunt with great amenities the
Waurika Division is the place for you. The 33,000
acre ranch is set up for archery, muzzle-loader
and rifle hunts and we have limited openings
currently for all three. The ranch is capable of
producing deer greater than 170 with an average
score of 140. We have a gallery up of Waurika
deer on our website at
www.stuartranchoutfitters.com for you to check
out. If youre interested in booking a hunt with
us, please feel free to call at (580) 228.3272 or
send an email to clay@stuartranch.com. We will
be happy to answer any questions you might
have or provide further information.
