Commentary (explains how the T.E. is the L.E. and how it proves the
assertion and themed statement MULT. SENTENCES)
This is an allusion because it is comparing what
happened in The Scarlet Ibis toHansel and
Gretel. The Allusion compares when Hansel and Gretel
left crumbs so that they could find theyre way back
home. It also compares how brother and doodle both
had many expectations and plans for each other that
they were lost. The words and had left no crumbs
behindand it was too late to turn back helped
establish this type of comparison because it can tell
how both Hansel and Gretel and Brother and Doodle
had a similiar problem because the crumbs that
Hansel and Gretel put went away and how Brother
and Doodle were late to turn back because they were
lost in their expectations. The author shows that
Brother felt regretful but didnt care at the same time.
This connects to the assertion and theme because his
pride makes him wander far into his expectation and
in Brothers expectations he pushes Doodle too hard.

The words his face turned red and his eyes

became glazed create the imagery because its
describing how doodle couldn't handle being pushed
hard. Brother made Doodle suffer by making him do
things that would be difficult for Doodle to do. The
author associated Brothers pride in this quote because
the pride makes him push doodle more. This imagery
affects the audience because its letting everyone
know that Brother was being cruel to Doodle so it sets
out Brothers characteristics. This imagery can connect
to the assertion because Doodles face turns red so
that shows that Brother was pushing doodle too hard.

.The quote is an example of foreshadowing because

when Brother shows Doodle his casket it creates an
image of death which later on leads to Doodle dying in
the story. Brother is being cruel to Doodle by making
him touch the casket that was meant for him.Its
important to the author to add foreshadowing early in
the story because it can make the reader of the story
like more excited and it will make the reader keep on
reading the story to find out what happens. The

Tone

Commentary (explains how the T.E. is the L.E. and how it proves the
assertion and themed statement MULT. SENTENCES)

This quotation is an example of tone because the

words the faster i walked he walked, so i began to
run is reflecting Brothers attitude towards Doodle
failing. The author puts this quote in the story to let
the audience how Brother feels. At the same time
Brother wanted to push Doodle for the good of him but
also wanted to push him so that Doodle could suffer
more. The quote proves the assertion because when
Brother pushes Doodle it creates cruelty. This quote
also proves the theme statement because the pride
Brother had in him made him have that attitude.
