Cebu is one of the most developed provinces in the Philippines, with Cebu City one of the oldest cities of
the Philippines as its capital. Cebu Province has narrow coastlines, and it is known as one of the best

1. Fort San Pedro
Originally, Fort San Pedro was a military defence structure under the command of the Spanish
conquistador. Present, the well-preserved buildings are a great place to learn about the history of the
Philippines.

2. Taoist Temple
The Taoist Temple center of worship for the Taoism religion was built in 1972 by a Chinese community
of Cebu. It is located about 300 meters above sea-level and contains multiple towers. It is a popular place
for grade school students. The temple contains a chapel, a library, a souvenir shop and a wishing well.
From the large balconies you will get a scenic view of downtown Cebu.

3. Santo Nino Basilica


The Basilica is a place of prayer and pilgrimage of hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. The
history of the Augustinian Order in the Philippines is intimately connected with the history of the country.
The Augustinians were the first missionaries ever to reach the Philippine shores.

Mountain View Nature Park (Sitio Garahe, Busay) is another place worth seeing. Overlooking the city, it is

Jumalon Museum, Butterfly Sanctuary and Art Gallery is a private museum, art gallery and nature reserve
run by the Jumalon Foundation. It is located in Macopa St. Basak, Pardo, Cebu City, Philippines.

7. Magellan's Cross
Magellan's Cross is a Christian cross planted by Portuguese, and Spanish explorers as ordered by

Ferdinand Magellan upon arriving in Cebu in the Philippines on April 8, 1521. This cross is housed in a
chapel next to the Basilica Minore del Santo Nio on Magallanes Street, just in front of the city hall of
Cebu City.

8. Yap Sandiego Ancestral House


The Yap Sandiego Ancestral House is considered to be one of the oldest residential houses in the
Philippines. It was built sometime between 1675 and 1700. It was originally owned by a Chinese merchant
named Don Juan Yap and his wife, Doa Maria Florido. Just a few years ago (2008), the old ancestral
home was turned over to Doa Marias great great grandson, Val Sandiego. Val himself is known in Cebu
at present times as an art collector, renowned choreographer and heritage icon.

Underwater adventure in Cebu is fabulous. Extensive reef systems, dense, colourful marine life and warm
tropical water beckon divers from all over the world to Cebu. Just in front of the beach youll find an

Colon Street is considered as the first and oldest street in the Philippines. It is located in downtown area of
Cebu City, Cebu and has been the witness of so many events that happened during the Spanish
settlement. It was named after Cristopher Columbus.
