Justification for grade awarded:


Nathan is able to give a basic description of the lighting set up in Bryngwyn Schools drama hall,
demonstrating a competent evaluation of the use of parcans, gels and colours. He is also able
to identify special effects lighting; positioning and lighting balance and use of manual controls
such as dimming and chasing.
Nathan can identify the health & safety issues with regard to setting up, using and dismantling a
lighting set up demonstrating a basic knowledge that includes manual handling, potential
hazards, safe cabling and electrics.
Nathan is able to create a basic lighting programme for a specific performance of a song/track of
at least three minutes which demonstrates a basic competency in producing a lighting plan
appropriate to the style/tempo of the music; operation of a lighting desk using manually operated
elements and use of the special effects lighting available to him, plus appropriate adherence to
health & safety protocols.
Nathan is able to describe his strengths and areas for development showing a good
understanding of his progress.
