2. Home Visitors will be able to provide effective Home visits to the families on their
caseload
3. Home visitors will help the families create an effective, safe, and developmentally
appropriate learning environment.
4. Home Visitors will provide community resources that will help ensure the family stays
healthy and stable when it comes to their employment, health care, education, and
housing.
Part II
When it comes to early childhood education it can be very beneficial not only to the child
but to the parents as well. If a child is educated early in life it can help with the childs self
regulation, social and emotional development, language and literacy development, cognitive
development, and physical development. Children who attend high-quality preschool enter
kindergarten with better pre-reading skills, richer vocabularies, and stronger basic math skills
than those who do not," says NIEER director W. Steven Barnett, PhD (Kanter, 2015). Needs or
gap analysis were conducted to determine the need of this training. Determining the attitudes and
behaviors was also important. The 3 techniques used were questionnaires, observations, group
sessions and interviews.
Questionnaires will be given to the employees and families. The questionnaires for the
employees will focus on if they feel like they are effectively trained home visitors and what
training they would like. The questionnaires for the families will focus on if the familys needs
are met. The questionnaires indicated that the home visitors felt that they needed to be trained
more on how to be an effective home visitor. The questionnaires for the families revealed that the
familys needs were met but there are additional needs that they have.
Observations will be done by site supervisors. Who will accompany Home visitors on
their home visits to observe them while in the field Observations will also happen while the
home visitor is in the office. Site supervisors will monitor the home visitors files to see if they
are at NHA standards. Observations indicated that some employees need training on the process
of being a home visitor.
Group sessions will be conducted and will focus on how the employees feel as a whole
on how effective they are as home visitors. Employees will get a change to converse on topics
they will like to be trained on, resources, and tools that will better assist them with families of the
program. Group sessions indicated that home visitors will like to be trained.
Interviews will be conducted by select families where they will be interviewed on if the
program has assisted them in educating their child and how has it helped. Questions of what have
they learned about their childs development and education will also be asked. Interviews
indicated that families feel that they have learned about children development but will like to
learn more.

understand that their childs education relies on them. Being the childs parent not only mean
taking care of the child but being that childs role modeling which is where children first learn.
Preschoolers depend upon observation as they begin to understand and test the workings of
interpersonal relationships. And even teenagersalthough you might not believe it!are
listening to your words and observing your actions, examining how you handle everything from
personal relationships to stress to career disappointments ("Scan", 2015). Giving a child the
Head Start will set the foundation for their education for the rest of their lives. Parent who is
educated may become more motivated in their own learning opportunities.
Early childhood development is very important, according to Zero to Three The first
three years of life are a period of incredible growth in all areas of a babys development ("Zero
To Three", 2014).This training will help Home visitors educate parents on how to be their childs
first teacher and how important it is. This training will provide the home visitor with the
necessary tools to provide to the parents that will help them become an effective first teacher and
role model for their children. Home visitors will gain knowledge and use the Parents as Teachers
and Creative curriculum as a supplement on how to provide early childhood education. Home
visitors will be allowed to participate in a social learning environment where they will be able to
share and reflect on each others experiences.
Promotion Channels
The promotion for this training will all be internal because it is only for Home visitors.
This training is mandatory for all home based visitors and home base supervisors. The
promotional channels that will be used are email and flyers that will be posted in the home base
office. Emails will be used to notify all staff that there is a mandatory training schedule. An email
will be sent out with enough notice so that home visitors can cancel and reschedule any home
visits they may have the days and times of the trainings. The email will include the day, time, and
location. E mail will be the most effective channel to communicate with home visitors because
they must check their email daily. Flyers will also be posted as reminders around the office. It is
the site supervisors job to make sure all home visitors are aware of the training and will be able
to attend.
Part VII
Program Evaluation
A program evaluation is needed to evaluate whether home visitors got the proper and
effective training on how to be an effective home visitor. The results from the program
evaluation will give the trainers an idea on what need to be change or added to improve the
training in the future. The individual responsible for overseeing the evaluation are the trainers.
Feedback is needed from the participants to determine if the skills learned were effective and
how they produced a positive impact on adult learning. Feedback also informs trainers of the
home visitors thoughts on the training, whether they liked it or not. The metrics that will be
measured will be success of the training, what have the home visitors learned as a result of
attending the training? Are the home visitors using what they have learned in home visits? And
what improvements are needed in order to keep the training going? These metrics will provide
much needed information for the growth of the training itself and how it will provide appositive
impact on adult learning. The purpose of the evaluation will not only benefit the home visitor but
the families of the program as well. Evaluations can make trainers aware of any changes that
need to make in order to have an effective Home visitor training.
An evaluation will be conducted after the training as well as after 2 weeks of home visit
that the home visitors will go to try out new skills. Surveys and observations will be used to
collect data on the effectiveness of the training. Observation will be done on the home visitor by
the site supervisor while they are at home visits. These observations will be done two weeks after
the training to ensure the home visitors feel comfortable with the family before someone new
comes in to observe. Interviews may be conducted if the trainer feels more data is needed.
Interviews may be in a group setting or individual depending on the availability of the home
visitor. A cost benefit analysis will also be conducted to determine if the training was cost
effective. This happen immediately after all funds is used and the training wraps up.
