A Separate Peace: Movie
The movie, A Separate Peace, would include everyones favorite scenes from the book.
Characters would include Finny, Gene, Leper, and Brinker. All characters would have the
mirrored images that the book portrays. You will still see Finny break his leg and him get upset
because he can no longer play sports. You will also see the boys training at Devon boarding
school. Finny will still die and Gene will learn to live without his presence. It wouldnt remove
much of the book other than some of the parts when Gene is narrating his life in the book. It
would have good beginning, also portraying the way the book mentions Gene going back to
Devon after the war. It is one of the main parts of the book because Gene reflects on his time at
Devon and recalls all of the events that led up to leaving for war. It would include a scene about
the reactions of Finnys family and friends after he died. It might add a scene and change a few
things.
One things that the movie may change is that Leper wouldnt go as crazy as the book described.
It may change how the boys reacted to the war at Devon. Some may be okay with war, but
others may have opinions like Finny did: That war wasnt real. We might add more scenes about
Brinker and bring attention to all the characters rather than just mainly focus on Gene and Finny.
We might add several more scenes about the trial. We would spend more time to get into the
reasoning behind Gene jouncing the branch that causes Finny to fall. The movie should also

include another scene about Blitzball. It could try and explain more about the rivalry that Gene
had against Finny and why Gene wanted to be Finny so badly. We should exclude the small
things, like Lepers snail collection. We would focus more on why gene was fighting this internal
and external war all throughout his years at Devon. People saw what he was going through, but
he was the only one that knew the truth and knew what was happening to him. The main focus
overall would be this internal war. I never killed anybody and I never developed an intense
level of hatred for the enemy. Because my war ended before I ever put on a uniform; I was on
active duty all my time at school; I killed my enemy there.
