Member Checkout Procedures


Congratulations on all that you have accomplished throughout the course of institute! We are so
proud of your hard work and dedication to working toward the end of education inequity. We wish
you the best in your region and with your students this coming fall!

This memo includes important checkout procedures and policies that will enable you to properly leave
the Phoenix institute and avoid unnecessary charges. If you are missing any of this information or have
questions regarding these procedures, please contact Luke Allpress, Director of Residential

General Procedures
Checkout will take place in the Corps Member Workspace (Gotham City - F101) on Thursday, July 9th
from 6am to 7am and 4pm to 10pm, and on Friday, July 10th from 7am to 12pm.

All corps members must personally check out. It is essential that we receive your signature on our
institute lodging roster, or our funders will not financially cover your stay at institute. All corps
members must vacate the residence halls by 12:00 PM on Friday, July 10th, at which time a sweep of
all rooms will be conducted by institute staff.

Please prepare for checkout and departure from ASU by completing the following action steps:

Remove all personal belongings from the residence hall room and common areas
Dispose of garbage in the dumpsters located outside of the residence halls
Arrange for transportation to the airport
If necessary, visit the UPS store for any shipping needs or to return your key
Return all dishes, cups and silverware to the dining hall
Donate unwanted lamps in the corps member workspace
Collect the following items and bring them to checkout (NOTE: There will be space in the F
lobby to place your luggage while you are checking out):
1. A photo ID, such as a drivers license, state-issued ID, or passport
2. Conference card (Lost fee = $14.25)
3. Room key; you must return the key to the room to which you have been assigned no
re-entry to the room is permitted after checking out (Lost fee = $45.00)
4. UPS mailbox key or return receipt (Lost fee = $10.00)
5. Any Resource Room materials that are still checked out (Lost fee: varies)
6. Credit/debit card for any charges

Room Condition
It is your responsibility to clear your room of all personal belongings and garbage. The room and
furniture must be in the same condition as at check in. You will be notified of any room damage fees
within a month after checking out. Keep in mind that your school team will be conducting room
sweeps after you check out; they thank you in advance for leaving your room clean and empty!

Garbage
All garbage must be removed from the residence halls, hallways, and common areas. Extra garbage
bags are available at the ASU Residential Life G-wing Desk. Dumpsters are located outside of the
residence halls.

Donations
Any items that you do not wish to transport to your region (hangers, cleaning supplies, bedding, clean
clothing, etc.) will be collected in the breezeway. All donated items will be delivered to the Big
Brothers Big Sisters of Central Phoenix.

If you purchased a lamp for your stay at institute and will not need it in your region, please consider
donating your lamp to sustain our collection for future corps members. We will be collecting lamps in
the corps member workspace (Gotham) during checkout.

Systems Information

Dining Hall Hours


The dining hall will be open for dinner on Thursday July 9th from 5-8pm, and will be open for breakfast
on Friday July 10th from 7-9am.

Resource Room Materials
All items must be returned prior to your departure from institute. If you have items checked out until
the 9th, please bring them to checkout. For class sets, the cost of replacement for some materials may
be upwards of $50, so please make sure you return your materials!

Lost and Found
If you have misplaced an item during your stay at ASU, please visit the Communications Desk in the F-
wing lobby before you depart. Any leftover items will be donated.

Leaving Institute

Shipping
Please visit the UPS Store for shipping needs. They will help you package and send any items that you
would like to ship prior to your departure from institute. The UPS Store hours of operation are
Monday through Friday, 9am to 10pm.

Transportation to Airport
There are a number of options for transportation to the airport. Three options include:

Super Shuttle offers inexpensive shuttle services to Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, especially for groups.
Reserve shuttles online at www.supershuttle.com in advance to ensure availability.

The Light Rail, operated by Phoenix Valley Metro, is an alternative mode of transportation. The station
nearest to campus is located at the intersection of South Terrace Road and Rural Road (listed online as
the University Drive and Rural Road stop). A one-way ride costs $2.00. The Sky Harbor Airport stop is
located on 44th street and Washington. Check the light rail schedule online at
http://routes.valleymetro.org/timetables/490/transit_route.

Tempe offers many taxi services to the airport. Your current address for pick-up is Hassayampa
Academic Village, 711 E. Lemon St. Tempe, AZ 85281. Local taxi services:

Submitting Checkout Information
Please remember that institute does not end until July 9th, and you are responsible for attending
school for the entirety of that day. All corps members must submit their checkout information at this
survey in order for our team to prepare for your departure.
