Discussion

From the sketch for the graph of :

a) Temperature against time :
- As the temperature of sodium thiosulphate solution
increases, the time taken for the mark X disappear from sight
decreases.
b) Temperature against 1/time
- A straight line,
- temperature 1 / time , but
Rate of reaction 1 / time , hence
Rate of reaction temperature

Conclusion

As the temperature of the reactant

increases, the rate of reaction increases

Solving problems involving the factors

affecting the rate of reaction
Consider 2 informations :
1.
Compare the rates of reactions:
Refer to the factor affecting the rate of
reaction and compare in both experiment
2.
Compare the yield :
Refer and compare the quantities of reactant in
both experiment

Examples
a)

0.1 mol dm-3 nitric acid at room
temperature,
ll : 2 g of excess marble powder + 20 cm 3 of
0.5 mol dm-3 nitric acid at room
temperature,
