Minneapolis Fast Pitch

Bruce Okeson/ Greg Berg

July 2015

Heres a recap of where we stand with our 2015 South Minneapolis Fall
League program and our plans going forward.

So far what a success! When Bruce and I first started to discuss setting up a
fall league based out of Minneapolis, we were hoping to get enough girls for 3
teams. We currently are sitting at 69 girls and 6 teams. We couldnt be
happier. Girls from the following high schools, Washburn, Southwest, South,
Edison and Holy Angels, along with many of citys grade schools and middle
schools are taking advantage of our program.

12U Fall League- two teams

With girls 23 girls at 12U (4 10U/19 12U), we currently would have one team
with 11 players one team with 12 players. We could use one to three more girls
at 12U. Wed prefer a pitchers and catchers, but at this time well take any
player.

14U Fall League- two teams

With girls 20 girls at 14U, we currently would have two teams with 10 players
on each team. We could use two to four more girls at 14U. Wed prefer pitchers
and catchers, but at this time well take any players. Talk to your friends.

16U Fall League- two teams

With girls 26 girls at 16U, we currently will have two teams with 13 players
on each team. 16U is full, and registration is closed. We have two 17 year old
girls registered who were given permission by the league to play at the 16U
level.

Practices
Practices will start the end of the week of Aug. 3rd. There is a fee to
use the City Park Fields, so we will be coming up with schedule that
works financially but still allows the girls the opportunity to
improve their skills.

Evaluation Night Wednesday July 29, 2015
All girls who have registered will be placed on a team. We will be having
evaluations at Pearl Park next Wednesday, July 29, 2015
12U evaluation at 6:00 p.m.
Parent meeting 6:45 p.m.
14U evaluation at 7:00 p.m.
16U evaluation at 7:45 p.m.
We will split the teams based on experience, with the girls playing with
teammates near their own skill levels. This allows us to then rate our teams
based on the over skill level for MMFL Fall League.

Coaches meetings July 29th, 2015 5:30

Anyone interested in coaching this fall, should get to the evaluation at 5:30 on
July 29th to assist in setup and for a quick meeting. Please be ready to assist
evaluations at all ages. The coaches meeting is to go over our expectations for
our coaches. This will be a quick meeting, but well expect our coaches to
attend.

Parents meeting July 29th, 2015 6:45

We are planning a short parent meeting between the 12U and 14U evaluations
on July 29th, at roughly 6:45. The purpose of the parent meeting is to answer
questions concerning Fall League and future options for Minneapolis
Fastpitch players. We hope to have teams playing winter dome ball and teams
in the MMFL Suburban League starting next summer.

Bruce and I are also looking for other volunteers to help us drive this
program. Weve done a lot so far, but could use some help and other ideas.

7th Annual Hudson Fall League Tournament - Aug. 22nd

On Saturday, August 22nd, our 6 Fall Ball teams will be playing in one day
tournament in Hudson Wisconsin. Each team will play 3 games. League games
start the next day.

Equipment
We are in need of equipment. We were hoping to use some of the extra income
from the fees to buy equipment. With the additional teams (which is a great
problem to have), well need to use that extra money to pay the league entry
fees along with the field fees. So if you have equipment that your daughter
outgrew please feel free to donate it the program.

Club 612- City of Lakes Fastpitch

Bruce and I, have been bouncing different program names and have come up
with Club 612 which of course is the area code for Minneapolis. We have not
100% finalized it, but this is what we currently are leaning towards.

Registration and Fee

If you have not filled out the paperwork or paid your fee please do so. We have
quite a few bills to pay and the fee is our only income. We are running an
extremely tight program moneywise and need everyone to pay this year.

Sponsors
We are looking for sponsors for our program. If you would like to be a
program sponsor, contact Bruce at bruceokeson@gmail.com or 612-616-
6176. If you sponsor us, depending on donation wed be looking to have your
logo on our jerseys along with being included in a sponsors list on any future
newsletters.

Current 12U Players - Hudson Fastpitch Tournament - Aug. 1st
Bruce Okeson is putting together a 12U team to play in one day tournament in
Hudson Wisconsin. This is for girls who played 12U this past summer, or will
be playing 12U for us this fall. This is a great opportunity to play in very good
tournament and be done in one day. The cost is only $10. Contact Bruce at
bruceokeson@gmail.com or 612-616-6176.

Equipment Donation
Hudson Boosters (My past organization) will be donating some used
equipment to help us get started this fall. This will be quality equipment and
greatly appreciated. They are showing appreciation to us for sending teams to
both tournaments.

Dome League

If any girl is interested in playing dome softball starting in October, please get
back to Greg at greg.berg@yahoo.com. The cost of this program would be over
$200.

Summary
We hope that your daughters have a great experience this fall. There might be
a few bumps in the road as we get this going. But our intention is to run a
quality program for all girls in Minneapolis, so they no longer have to venture
out to the Suburbs to play a high level of travelling softball. This program is
just getting started, and we hope that exceeds your expectations.
