What do you do if you have a

fire in your kitchen?

Fire Prevention
What can we do to prevent
fires in our homes and
kitchens?

1. Never leave something

cooking unattended.

2. Keep flammable things like sleeves,

dish towels, plastic wrap, away from
the flame.

3. Keep a fire extinguisher

and smoke detector in your
kitchen and up to date.

4. Never throw hot grease in the trash

can since the bag will melt and the
contents of the trashcan may light on
fire.

5. Keep pan handles

turned towards the back of
the stove.

6. Make sure you have access to

the lid that fits your pan to
quickly put out any fire.

7. Never throw water on a

kitchen fire.

8. If you decide to fight

the fire, always keep an
exit route.

9. Call for help and get everyone out.
