AP Calculus AB Derivative Foldable Rubric

The goal of this project is to creatively demonstrate your ability to organize mathematical material using a
Foldable / Graphic Organizer that is 3-dimensional in shape.

1. Create a Clean and Legal Mathematical Foldable using Construction/Card Stock paper of ORIGINAL work.
2. Provide examples, explanations, and detailed work/solutions to the topics listed below for Chapter 2 Derivatives on each tab of 16
Foldable tabs:
o Title Page Title, Name, & Picture
o Curve Sketching y y y
o Constant Rule
For each rule, you must write
o Power Rule
the general equation of the
o Product Rule
derivative and then an
o Quotient Rule
example using that
o Trig Rules (chart and 3 different examples)
derivative. You may not use
o Chain Rule (2 trig examples and 2 non trig examples)
any specific examples that
o Implicit Differentiation (list implicit steps & one example)
x
we use in the notes.
o y=e
o y = ln x
o y = ax
o y = log x
o On 2 tabs make up at least 2 problems per tab that incorporate any 3 or more of the rules
above in one problem. Next to each problem, list the rules you used. You can repeat rules
per problem but you must use all of the rules above at least once. LIST PROBLEM ON
FRONT OF TAB WITH WORK AND SOLUTION ON BACK OF TAB.
o Real life examples of Derivatives (You may NOT use examples covered in class.)
o Inverse Trig Rules (chart only & 2 examples) = Bonus
3. At least 5 of the tabs must have an interactive 3 D component.
