Task 1 (August 7 )
It is essential that you develop a monitoring process that fits your goal. To assist you with designing a
monitoring process we have provided two resources for you to review. Once you have reviewed these,
design and post your monitoring process in a document. Try to fit your design into one page or less and
consider using a graphic organizer or headings to help consolidate information. Review the posts made
by your classmates and respond to at least one peer.
Task 2 (August 10-12)
The class will be divided into small groups for participation in a small group discussion. This discussion
can take place using the course software or be hosted in external software (Skype, GoToMeeting, etc.).
Anticipate setting aside 45-60 minutes for this discussion. The purpose of this discussion is to have an
opportunity to share a problem you are experiencing in your professional practice (in pursuit of inquiry
goal). If you are unclear what a problem of practice is, watch the video below to review how a group of
teacher educators talk about problems they experience in their practice.
th
Task 3 (August 13 )
You should now be ready to reflect on the progress of your inquiry see Task Four in Module 5.
Task 1 (August 15 )
Review Scholarly Readings
Two articles about electronic portfolios are provided for you. In addition, we have created a list of free
software that can host the electronic portfolio you will design. Take time to read the articles and then
explore the platforms. Select one or more structures that you will use to document and display your
learning across this course. Post what resources you are planning to use, how you are planning to use
them or why you felt drawn to them.
Task 2 (Completed)
Identify what goal you are going to pursue and how this goal relates your professional or personal well
being. Identify if/how this goal evolves as you progress throughout the course. Document this planning on
your electronic portfolio [See Module 2 Introduction for support about goals]
Prompt
Specify your goal and how of SRL fit into your professional or personal inquiry context. Consider how
achieving this goal furthers your professional or personal well-being. Identify if/how this goal evolves
through our course. Document this planning on your electronic portfolio [See module 2 Introduction for
support about portfolios]
th
Task 3 (August 9 )
As you take action to pursue your specific inquiry to fulfill your goal you will need to conduct research to
identify or locate resources that can support you. For task three, identify at least two new resources that
have helped you to think about your goal. These resources can be people, text, (electronic or print) or
connected to any other strategy that supports your goal. Include a 2-3-sentence description about how
each resource makes s a contribution.
Prompt
Identify at least 2 new* resources that will support your personal and professional inquiry (new, meaning
not yet used in our course, these resources have to be dependable). Accompany each resource with a 23-sentence description of the contribution it makes to your inquiry. Start a <new thread> to post these
resources as you come across them or wait and post both once you have located at least two. Add these
resources to your chosen electronic portfolio.
Task 4 (August 10 )
Connecting with others who are aware of your inquiry goal can support your learning. Send an email to
your instructor reflecting on the progress of your inquiry and any challenges you are facing.
Prompt
Send a short email to your instructor reflecting on the progress of your inquiry and any challenges you
are facing. Respond to 1 or 2 of questions identified below (you do not need to respond to them all).
Am I accomplishing you goals? If not, what can I do differently next time?
How did I use my time? How can I adjust my schedule in the future to be more productive?
How did I react when I became bored, stuck or frustrated? What did I learn from this experience?
Under what conditions was I most and least productive? How can I apply this knowledge to
future projects?
What strategies were most and least successful? What techniques should I use again? What
areas need to be refined?
th
Task 5 (August 15 )
Reflection is critical throughout the self-regulated cycle with a distinctive emphasis on selfreflection at the conclusion. While you may have learned many things from your professional
inquiry, this task asks that you consider specifically what you have learned about monitoring selfregulated inquiry. Consider this dimension and add your idea(s) to your whatever electronic forms
you have selected for your portfolio.
Prompt
You will take a step back from your inquiry and post a response to highlight one thing that you have
learned about monitoring from this process.
Include this learning in your electronic portfolio.
