Five Minutes Activities for Young Learners

LESSON PLAN FOR YOUNG LEARNERS


TOPIC: Healthy Bodies (page 101)
TIME: Approximately 60 minutes
AGE: 6-7 years
PRE-TASK:

The teacher asks the students if they know the parts of the body in
Serbian language, if the students answers are affirmative , then the
teacher elicits students anwers. Afterwards, the teacher draws on the
board a picture of a person and asks the students to help him/her
name the parts of the body in Serbian by pointing out the arrows to
each body part and naming it.

SONG TASK

The teacher introduces the following exercise to students, explaining


them that he/she will play the song on CD player about body parts. In
addition, the teacher tells students that he/she will be pointing out to
each body part on himself/herself which will be mentioned in the song,
and that they shoud pay attention to the body part words they hear in
the song.
The teacher plays the song Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes (or any
other song suitable for this topic) and points out to each body part
mentioned in the song. Once the song is finished, the teacher elicits
the students answers by asking them how each body part is called in
English and writes down the English equivalents on the picture on the
board above Serbian body part words.
The teacher tells students to copy the picture from the board in their
notebooks.

PICTURE TASK.

The teacher prints out the handout 1, and tells the students to match
the words with the body parts.
The teacher monitors students work and provides the assistance
where is needed.
Once the students are finished, the teacher elicits the students
answers and checks the work they have done.

STORY TASK: Grandma! What big eyes youve got!

HOMEWORK
The teacher gives the students topic-related homework for the next
class.

CLOSURE

The teacher provides a recap of the lesson, starting from what was
done in the lesson and what students need to pay attention to in the
future. The teacher ends the lesson on a positive note praising the
students for their contribution and the work they have done.
