The pollinator, butterfly and beneficial insect garden that Mindy Appolds Planting Design II (LA325) students designed Fall 2015 is currently being installed. We invite you to watch the transformation. The hardscaping will be installed this Fall and the perennial planting will be installed Spring 2016, and at that time there will be an official ribbon cutting ceremony. We will keep you posted. Although, the construction documents were prepared by Purdues Physical Facilities Department many of the design ideas were taken from the students designs as well as the plant selection. The garden includes seating areas for insect observation, an outdoor class gathering area and even a trellis for hopps plants that provide great forage for pollinators. The plants selected for the design were chosen for their blooming time, native heritage and whether or not they are host plants for specialized insects.
