DOUBLE BREASTED

The term double-breasted refers to a

coat or jacket with two parallel
columns of buttons and overlapping
front pieces. The typical doublebreasted blazer has on to four rows of
buttons, only one or two of which are
meant to be functional.
The most common button
combinations these days are the 6X2
and 4X2.

BUTTON DISTANCE &

STANCE

Button distance on DB jackets

varies considerably in the
market. At the smallest around
2 at the most about 5.
Generally speaking this is
determined by the silhouette
of the garment. The narrower
the shape the closer the
buttons or wider the shape the
farther the buttons.
The trend recently has also
been to have lower button
stance with longer lapels
showing more of the tie and
shirt.
