Tribeni Tissues Limited was founded in 1949 and manufactured cigarette papers and tissues. It was acquired by ITC in 1988. Tribeni manufactures specialty papers including cigarette tissues and lightweight communication papers. It generates its own steam and power through a coal-fired boiler and turbine. To compete with lower cost European and Chinese manufacturers, Tribeni focuses on cost and quality.

HISTORY

ITC was incorporated on August 24 ,1910 under


the name of Imperial Tobacco Company Of
India

Later during 70s, as ownership progressively


Indianised its name was changed as Indian
Tobacco Company

The periods in the name were removed in


september 2001 and is since known as ITC
Limited

ITC was primarily devoted to the growth and


consolidation of tobacco based products

Later ITC got a multi business portfolio by


venturing into various fields like:

FMCG
Hotels
Paperboards & Packaging
Agri Business
Information Technology

Tribeni Tissues Limited was founded

Two Paper machines and a pulp mill


erected for making cigarette tissues,plug
wrap Paper and carbonizing tissues

1961

Wiggins teape ,a speciality paper making


company took over the operations

1969

Paper Machine 4 was installed

1977

Paper Machine 3 was Installed

1988

Management was taken over by ITC


from BAT

1992

Merged with ITC

2002

Integrated to become a part of
