Kerala Transport - Overview


Problem Statement:
Kerala Government is planning a integrated Transport
system in Cochin.
Cochin has lot of islands and integration of waterworks will
simplify the transport system.
The proposed implementation is over an area of 632
kilometers.
The proposed go-live date is in 2016.

Kerala Transport - Hierarchy


Authority Structure:
Highest level of authority: Government Secretary. COO (Chief
operating officer) will report to him.
Road, Rail and Water Networks will have respective General
Managers, reporting to COO.
For ticketing and Route Optimization, a separate department
Integrated Ticketing has been formed, which will be headed by a
GM.
For internal grievances : GM of ticketing system plays a Liaison roe.
In case of disputes: COO heads Hierarchy of authority.

Cons of Peer Groups Structure:
Tall hierarchy.
More complex structure.
Less cost effective due to more no of hierarchy levels and
personnel's required.
