Accountability Profile Special Projects Manager

Salary: Region of 32,000 per annum depending on experience


Band 5
Fixed Term 1 year (which may be extended)
The Public Engagement Department consists of the Interpretation, Marketing
& Communications, Development and Education teams. This post sits within
the Interpretation team and will play a key role in developing and delivering
interpretation projects as part of the museums creative programme. Projects
may be drawn from the museums temporary exhibition programme or be
part of the gallery improvements as required and may take place at any one
of the museums three sites. The post will be based at the museums
headquarters in Leeds.
Purpose
To take responsibility for the planning, development and
implementation of specific Royal Armouries interpretation projects
including exhibition, digital and print ensuring appropriate provision for
all visitors as required
Key Tasks
To lead on developing, planning and delivering specific interpretation
projects either exhibitions or displays;
To act as the main contact with external exhibition partners as required
To lead on development and production of interpretation and exhibition
plans for particular projects, either temporary exhibitions or gallery
refresh projects, adopting a collegiate and collaborative approach with
external partners and internal teams as required
To manage the production of small, medium or large interpretation
projects for installation at any one of the three Royal Armouries sites
To ensure that new provision meets the standards set out by the Head
of Interpretation and the Public Engagement Department as a whole
To manage designated project budgets within Royal Armouries financial
guidelines
To manage and steer multi-disciplinary teams as required
To encourage and facilitate an evidence-based approach drawing on
audience research and good practice as required
To ensure best interpretative practice as an intrinsic part of the role
Expertise
To bring considerable expertise in interpretation, evaluation, audience
advocacy, production, project management, access (in respect of
interpretation) and multi-platform approaches e.g. exhibition, online,
print etc.

People
To lead multi-disciplinary teams to develop and deliver interpretation
projects
To represent the museum in external partnerships

To successfully lead and manage interpretation project teams
To actively liaise with colleagues across the Royal Armouries to build
support for the interpretation programme in-house
To build strong working relationships with all relevant departments
To actively seek and maintain opportunities to work in partnership with
external organisations

resources and value for money

develop sustainable approaches

Reporting Structure
The post-holder will be a member of the Interpretation team and will be linemanaged by the Head of Interpretation.
Hours
This is a 1 year fixed term contract, this may however be extended by way of
mutual agreement. Working full-time, being 37.5 hours per week, 5 days out
of 7. The post-holder must be prepared to work at the weekend, on Bank
Holidays and in the evenings as required given the nature of the position.
