TITLE: Technical Excellence Intern

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 1:  the post holder will not have contact with children and/or young people, or access to personal
data about children or young people, as part of their work; therefore, a police check will not be
mandatory for this post unless the content of the post changes, in which case the Child Safeguarding
level should be reviewed.

ROLE PURPOSE
Save the Children is committed to driving the uptake of our Common Approaches and to build the skills
& capacity needed so that they can be implemented to the highest standard.

Bronze courses offer all staff the opportunity to familiarise themselves with a Common Approach via a
self-led online course. Silver courses train implementing staff and offer a longer, blended learning
approach with experiential application through activities and graded assignments.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, tech savvy intern who will be responsible for supporting the
Technical Excellence Team (one Senior Manager and two Managers) in the delivery of Bronze and
Silver level training courses of the Save the Children Common Approaches Learning Programme.

The role holder will be part of the Strategy, Quality, & Technical Excellence Team, within Program
Quality & Impact.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Senior Technical Excellence Manager, PQI

Budget Responsibilities: none

Role Dimensions:
The role holder will work most closely with and support the Technical Excellence Team. The Technical
Excellence Intern will also work with a wide range of stakeholders, including all of PQI, SCI HR
Learning & Development, SCI IT support, and technical staff across Save the Children member and
country offices.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Support Technical Capacity Building, Learning and Development: Ensure Technical Excellence
Managers and Senior Manager, instructors, and participants are supported to deliver and learn from the
Common Approaches Learning Programme.

Support the Application & Selection, Delivery, and Close Out phases of select Silver level courses.
 Prepare or update course information for advertising, and support course convenors with
applicant selection
 Create or update and maintain course resources, including the LMS page
 Support course convenors/instructors with logistical arrangements for remote learning events on
MS Teams (scheduling, invitations, breakout rooms, interactive activities, etc)
 Track all participation and grades of staff and communicate regularly

 Coordinate and support mentors to provide feedback and grading


 Serve as the general focal point for Silver course instructors, mentors, and participants, to ensure
a smooth user experience. This includes platform access/use issues, and responding to logistical
& administrative questions
 Organize & document course After Action Review
 Prepare compelling summary presentations for each course, including testimonials
 Support promotion of course progress and successes on internal platforms
 Work with Technical Excellence Managers to make Silver course material accessible to all staff

Support the delivery of Bronze courses


 Bug-fixing and responding to staff queries
 Support outreach/communications to encourage completions

QUALIFICATIONS

 BA or BSc (or studying towards) in public policy, advocacy, political science, international
development, education, or relevant field

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential:
 High level of IT competency, particularly Microsoft Office, Sharepoint, and Teams, including
the ability to independently facilitate remote events, manage lists or document libraries, edit
intranet pages, etc.
 Experience with using a Learning Management System (Blackboard, Moodle, or Totara) either
as a student or an administrator
 Adopts a pro-active approach to problem solving, working closely with team members and other
colleagues as required
 Highly organized with a strong attitude for precision and thorough attention to detail

 Sound judgment and an ability to effectively prioritise multiple tasks


 A positive, flexible and collaborative approach; ability to engage with a broad range of people at
all levels, across different cultures
 Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communications skills
 Commitment to the mission, vision and values of Save the Children;

Desirable:
 Experience using Articulate 360 (Rise, Storyline) or other e-learning software
 Experience developing surveys using Survey Monkey
 Experience using Workplace by Facebook or any other social enterprise platform
 Written language skills in French, Spanish or Arabic
