To measure the speed, the time between the passage of a vehicle at two separate parallel windows is detected. The distance

M. Fathy received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Iran University of Science
and Technology, Iran, in 1984, the M.Sc. degree
in process engineering from Bradford University,
U.K., in 1987, and the Ph.D. degree from the
University of Manchester Institute of Science and
Technology, U.K., in 1990.
Currently, he is with the Department of Computer
Engineering, Iran University of Science and Technology, where he teaches postgraduate students. He
has been a consultant to various organizations and
is actively conducting research in the areas of image processing, neural
networks, fuzzy logic, and real-time image processing applications. He has
organized/coorganized conferences in computer engineering areas.
