2: Badminton

Rule of the game:

Played by either two opposing players (singles) or two opposing pairs (doubles), who take
positions on opposite halves of a rectangular court divided by a net. Players score points by
striking a shuttlecock with their racquet so that it passes over the net and lands in their
opponents' half of the court. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over
the net. A rally ends once the shuttlecock has struck the floor, or if a fault has been called by
either the umpire or service judge or, in their absence, the offending player, at any time during
the rally
Components Developed:
Players require aerobic stamina, agility, explosive strength, speed and precision. It is also a
technical sport, requiring good motor coordination and the development of sophisticated racquet
movements
Reflection:
Badminton is a very popular game. It is because the game is a little bit easy. You just
have to strike the shuttlecock with a racket and make sure it passes successfully through the net. I
dont play badminton. I am eager to learn, but so far I dont have the opportunity to really play
the game. However, last Intramurals, I was able to understand how it works. I watched several
sets of games and to my surprise; it gave me more ideas in mind.
I noticed that Badminton is a fast game. The shuttlecock moved faster that there were
times that I cant keep up with its pace. That is where I also found out that you have to possess a
good footwork in order to reach the coverage of the court.
What makes Badminton special, compared to other sports, is that everything can be
learned through proper exercises. I always believe that being an athlete is acquired and not
inherent. You still need to practice in order to make things perfect.

I would also like to note that Badminton can be played in team or individually. This is the
two side of the game. You can learn teamwork but you can also grow on your own. Both are
really vital to the development as a person. As for me, I dont play the sports, but I am still
young. There is a possibility that I will grab a racket and get in action in due time.
