MY REFLECTION IN BADMINTON

Badminton

Badminton is a sport that can be played by either 2 players or 4 players. Players hit a shuttlecock with
badminton racket so that it passes over a net and lands inside the opponent are half of the court. By doing
this, you win a rally, and get a point. Badminton was really fun and I really enjoyed it. At the start I am
really having a hard time of the rules of badminton. What I only knew was that you had to hit the shuttle
over the net. Sure we had learned badminton before when I was in high school but I had forgotten most of
the techniques I had learned. I feel as though my badminton skills and knowledge have improved by a lot.
However I still have a lot of areas to grow in. At least now I know the boundaries and how to count score
and who serves when.

Choosing my partners and opponents carefully was very important. It was a key factor which would
also help me improve my skills. During the badminton unit, I learned a new shot almost every lesson.
Some of them I knew how to do where others I have no clue on how to do. I learned how to do
overhead shots, the forehand and backhand drive, the drop shot and the smash.

I understand the concept of using space. Space is very important factor to be recognize and be always
remember after hitting a shot, you should always return to the middle so there is less distance you
have to run to hit the next return. When hitting the shuttle, you should always try to hit it far away so
the opponent struggles to get to it and hit it. For example if your opponent is at the back of the court,
you want to try doing a drop shot which makes them run to net.

I learned that when people are side by side, that is a defensive position. When one person is at the front
and one at the back it is offensive.

You should always be fair and nice to your opponent. You need to build showmanship in every game that
you have. It always is good to be slightly competitive but not to the point when you are ready to pull each
other’s hair out. To improve your skills, you should go against an opponent who is better, that way you
are challenged. If you are challenged, you get better

Overall, even though I am not the best at badminton, I had so much fun this subject. My badminton skills
have improved and I know a lot more about that sport.
