Parallel editing

The baptism scene from the godfather is an example of parallel editing.

Parallel editing is where you can alter between different scenes, for
example you could change to different scenes and keep on returning to
the original scene as a storys being told and the different scenes could be
a flashback.
The baptism scene in the godfather is showing two stories and is an
example of parallel editing as its starting with the original baptism scene
and the priest asks the man is he renounces evil and Satan and through
this scene its showing flashbacks to murders which is evil therefore he
doesnt renounce Satan or evil, and it keeps returning to the original
scene making it parallel as this technique is used.

Multiple perspectives
Describe how the film 500 days of summer used split screen to tell a story
from multiple perspectives
The film 500 days of summer used a split screen top tell a story from
multiple p0erspectives as it did a split screen and showed one with the
title expectations and another reality and they differed from one another
making it humours also explaining how a character expected something
and then the reality of it which was a let-down, this engages the audience
as its effective and may create sour humour.
How is it different from the method used in the Thomas crown affair,
which method is better?
This split screen method is different from the method used in the Thomas
crown affair as although a split screen is used again they are different as
in the Thomas cook affair it isnt just a typical split screen there is multiple
split screens to emphasize movement of specific things unlike the split
screen in 500 days of summer as thats just a typical two screen split
screen where one is frozen until the other is playing and in the Thomas
crown one they are all playing along together to make the scene more
interesting as they flow.
I think that both methods have been used effectively for their chosen
scene and not that one is better, I think the Thomas crown split screen is
good as a split screen has been used differently which is more interesting
but the split screen used in the 500 days of summer is a more basic way
of showing split screen although it works effectively for the chosen scene
and is less complicated- people will most likely to recognise a split screen
like in 500 days of summer whereas the one in the Thomas crown affair is
more complex and can be seen as more effective.
