Person Centered Thinking is a way to support people with developmental disabilities to


dream outside the box of standard social services options with the guidance of astute, creative
professionals, family, and community. This approach empowers individuals to have a voice in
the planning process and to actively shape their futures. It focuses on the unique values,
strengths, preferences, capacities, needs, and desired outcomes or goals of the individual.

An Evening of Information Sharing

Michael Steinbruck, MA
Michael Steinbruck, MA is the Program Coordinator at The Boggs Center on Developmental
Disabilities. Mr. Steinbrucks programmatic focus is on developing the Person Centered
Approaches in Schools and Transition (PCAST) project. He leads the projects training and
technical assistance activities related to the development and delivery of person centered
thinking and planning, and works with schools on implementation of person centered
approaches and related organizational improvement efforts.
Mr. Steinbruck has more than 20 years experience in facilitation and training various person
centered thinking and planning approaches and is a Mentor Trainer in person centered thinking
and planning as certified by The Learning Community for Person Centered Practices, Inc.
Regional Family Support Planning Council 4 (Essex County) is a group of volunteer family
members of inividuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities who host public forums to
obtain input to improve family support services provided by the Department of Human
Services (Division of Developmental Disabilities) and Department of Children and Families.
