Baucis
Baucis is my chosen city for multiple reasons.
It first stood out to me as I was able to visualise the city
in my head quite well whereas I could not for the
majority of other cities. I also thought it was quite a neat
idea for a city. I thought that it would fit Germanic style
architecture as you would think being on stilts and above
clouds that the buildings are made of wood. I originally
started designing basic huts above the clouds but this
later developed to the Germanic style architecture which
I think was far more fitting and more interesting than
basic huts. I imagine it as not being able to see houses in
distance or just barely as they are covered by clouds or
fog. But when a building can be seen the sun is shining
bright as there are no clouds to block out sunlight, the
clouds drift among and below the buildings but not above.

Influences

My influences for the thumbnails consist

mostly of Germanic style architecture
and wooden structures.

Final Thumbnails
These are the 3
thumbnails which I
ended up re-creating in
photoshop with colour
to give more of an idea
what they would look
like rather than rough
sketches. My favourite
was the Baucis image as
I thought it came out
better than the others
and the idea for it was
stronger. It was also the
one I spent the most
time on.
