BAUCIS TEXT
MISSION
STATEMENT
Baucis Mission Statement I have chosen to base my three final digital art pieces (establishing, exterior and interior) on the city of Baucis as it was the most
engaging to me out of all the texts and it felt totally fresh to me meaning I would not repeat any of my old work to make this. I really like the concept of it being
above the clouds, giving me a mystical Kid Icarus type vibe making my city feel quite historic instead of super technological. I also like the stilts too as I've been
looking at images and it makes the city feel more precious because it is more fragile, which ties in with no technology being evident in my city's aesthetics. My
ideas are inspired by my influence maps as they have very contrasting styles in them which make me think more creatively about my approach towards Baucis.
My city has to have Green (Growth) and Grey (reminder of the clouds it's above) food/fruit market stalls as they symbolise the growth of Baucis to me which is
displayed by the many huts meaning many residents. My city's residents all go to school and church to get them opportunities such as jobs in the market,
travelling and architecture. The colour pallet that will best suit my version of Baucis are Green, Grey, Brown, Blue, Gold, Red, Orange, Beige, Pink and Purple. I
will use Green, Red, Orange, Brown and Beige for the woodland path towards my city will have to share a realistic look to actually woodlands. The remaining
colours are for my city's landscape with the houses are Blue (to show respect to the water deity)and the Gold is for my School (as it shows how important
education is) while the Brown is for my church (as that represents the ground of the city which the citizens are grateful for). I have Purple scaffolding (to be a
bright colour but not too bright that it hurts the eyes of the citizens), Pink ladders (as they make travelling up and down Baucis more fun) Black stilts (as the Stilts
are visible but are not as exposed as the rest of the city). To pray for the unlimited amount of water accessible the citizens worship the classic water symbol
instead of a being as they don't believe something that can walk is able to live on the sky. As water is shimmery the ground is always lightly lit by the sun and the
glimmers of the tides, while the sky is predominantly dark as it is higher which means it's closer to space which is darkness. I will complete all my pieces in the
measurements of 16 x 9 as that is the best size to export my work without the resolution being hard to read the visual data. I want my pieces to come of as old
and authentic, I won't make my work look fictional but I also don't want a generic look to it either, which maybe requires me to wash my finished products instead
of nostalgic as that will make my intentions seem like it's trying to capture a look instead of showcasing a rural like atmosphere. My establishing shot will show
the woodlands leading up to the city as I want a way for tourists to naturally arrive to Baucis. I will use three point perspective for this shot to show how the
woodlands rise to the city above the clouds. To make this piece most effective i'm going to have the foreground lighter which is the woodland, the middle ground
(Baucis) a bit darker and i'm going to make the background the darkest aspect which would be the actually sky. the exterior show will show the outside of my
Golden School as I want to show how rich it looks and I want to show the quality of it's architecture while using a two point perspective to exaggerate the length
of the school which will be quite wide. This scene will have the Golden School in focus while the background is blurry accentuating the main focus of this frame
which is the educational centre. my interior shot will be of my Brown Church because the inside of the church is spiritual and I want to clearly demonstrate that. I
will use one point perspective yo complete this shot as it makes the focused area more dominant. This art piece will have the water God symbol sharp and clear
Mission Statement part 2
The intended audience for my city are people who are more into the look of LEDCs because I feel like Urban environments are too common in media and I feel
like showing more attention towards places that are LEDC like, and I feel like the year 1902 best suits my environment because that year relied on manual
invention compared to 1914 which relied on mechanical construction. My biggest influences came from highlighting the text of Baucis and searching for imagery
for my chosen city and this helped me to know what things look like instead of struggling to think what they could look like. I want a bright range of colours in my
city instead of a sepia or monotone look because the world is no longer seen through a black and white filter so it would not make my environment seem
believable to my viewers.
Major influence

This was one of the key factors in the influence of

my design, as this shows a city built on a waterfall,
with no sign of the ground and my city is elevated
from the ground too. This idea helped my digital
thumbnails because it inspired my third design a
lot, and I thought nothing could top that, this design
gave me the idea to experiment with lighting and
shading in my pictures, which is something i’ve
never tried before in any form of digital artwork.
