By definition it is
the fact of two things being seen
or placed close together with
contrasting effect

In ART this can be

contrast of two images
contrast of two subjects
contrast of materials
contrast of text & image

For example

This is a more literal form of juxtaposition. Two

images placed together or merged together
creating a contrast in the artwork.

Or

This features the juxtaposition of two images

in a way that merges them together while still
creating contrast. In this image the artist placed
Hello Kitty into a classic work by Goya- with her
overlooking a deceased person!
