Contemporary Issues in Sculpture!

- has recorded his latitude, longitude, and elevation every hour of every day since 1999!
- sculpture used to be something that marked an important moment/figure/event!
- recently sculpture has been made with same materials and techniques, but the
subject matter has changed!

- industrial revolution, photography, blah!


- people are always looking for new ways to represent sculptures based on the world
around them!

- traditionally it was nude women being cut out of stone, but female artists have
changed that long tradition!

- figurative sculpture has changed in contemporary sculpture (minimizing)!


- scale is a huge part of sculpture!
- sculpture is great because you have to interact with it!
- form and geometry have been incorporated in contemporary sculpture!
- can take mundane materials into an amazing piece!
- Art Guys has sold the rights to their ashes when they die, aka making the body into
art!

- sculpture made of blood by Marc Quinn!

3 dimensional object that you have to interact with it!
drawing in space instead of 2D!
sculpture can take up a whole room, but can also be very small!

can be simple, but meaning behind it is huge!


use of different materials (weird materials, such as chocolate and lard in sculpture

- taking something and shifting their context changes how we pay attention to objects.
Why do we not pay attention to certain things in everyday lives while we pay attention
to them when they are in the context of art?!

- different kinds of architecture to create sculpture
