Pupils develop factual knowledge, conceptual knowledge and procedural knowledge of the concept of
contact and non-contact force and its role in our daily life through observation, discussion,
experimentation and evaluation by questioning participation in practical work and group discussion
Learning Outcomes:
Enable the pupil to develop
a) Factual knowledge of the concept of contact and non-contact force by
1. Recalling the concept of force
2. Recognizing the examples of contact and non contact forces
b) Conceptual knowledge of the concept of contact and non contact force by
1. Explaining the concept of contact and non-contact forces
2. Presentation of hints with the help of charts.
Phase I :
Dividing the class into groups :
The classis divided into groups. Each group is given a name and a leader is selected from each
group. The hints provided are discussed and ideas are developed. A certain period of time is allotted
for the discussion, after which a leader from each group is asked to consolidate the ideas of his/her
team and present it to the whole class.
Phase II :
Presentation of clues:
The teacher passes on activity cards with hints on the concept to be taught, to each group. The
group members discuss the same and finally reach at a conclusion. The group-leader presents the
concept understood by his/her group, to the whole class.
