INTRODUCTION

Biographical method or historical method instead of presenting scientific


principles and theories in their finished form. They are taught by tracing their
development through the successive stages in their historical order. The real
science feel of science, scientific attitude and appreciation can be effectively
developed in pupils by in folding the real story of great discoveries in a living
manner.

BIOGRAPHICAL OR HISTORICAL METHOD

this way using this is to start with an interesting incident or story of the lives of a
scientist leading to a particular scientificdiscovery such as Archimedes and Newton
which lead to the discovery of two most important theories of science.This way pupil can
appreciate the qualities necessary to become a scientist. They will be able to realize that
scientific discoveries were made by chance. Using historical anecdotes in science may
appeal to larger number of students especially at the primary level.A skillful science
teacher can motivate students by narration of life histories anecdotes and situation
related to the subject chemistry, astronomy, physics, geology and biology have an
interesting historical background and a historical treatment of these can prove to be very
useful.

Sensing the problem, analyzing them forming hypothesis setting up
controlled experiment, drawing inference etc. .Involved in every scientific
investigation provide the pupil opportunities for creating scientific thinking.
This helps the teacher to fill the gap between the current knowledge and past
knowledge to a real extent. This will reveal the evolution nature of scientific
knowledge to the pupils.
