You are on page 1of 2

Again, let me thank you for all your kind words of

encouragement, gifts and phone calls. We will surely miss

First Baptist Church of Bainbridge.
Many have asked what our plans are for the future.
My resume is being circulated and I will wait upon the Lord
for His move in His time. I am confident God will take care
of us.
As far as the immediate future, we will stay in
Bainbridge in our home on Loblolly Lane. JoRene will have
her right knee replaced on the twentieth. We will visit various
congregations for a time and I will be available for supply in
the area as the Lord opens up opportunities.
My only request is that should you have questions or
hear rumors of what we are doing please call us. I do not like
rumors and will be glad to let those concerned know how
things are progressing.
Please join me this Sunday Morning for my final
sermon as your Pastor.
JoRene, Emily and I send our prayers and love to each
of you.

2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, October 18. This event will
take place in the Fellowship Hall of the Church and is
hosted by the Social and Reception Committee. A table

THANKS
May I express my gratitude to Hal Burrell for leading the
worship services for me while Dian & I were in Israel.
Leaving the country for 9 days takes lots of planning, but
one thing I could count on was the great job that Hal
would do in my absence. Thanks, too, to Myra Williams
for leading the Saints Alive Choir rehearsals and the sectional rehearsals for the Christmas music. Its great to be
able to count on fellow Christians to step in as a part of
the body of Christ.
BOWEN BAPTIST ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING

Plan to join us at 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 22 as the

Bowen Baptist Association meets for its Annual Meeting
in our Sanctuary. The meeting that night will feature inspirational preaching and special music led by our Chancel Choir and the choir from Morningside Baptist Church.

Chili Cook-Off Wednesday, October 28 6 pm

Join us for a chili cook-off! This is sure to be a yummy time of
fellowship! A $25 prize will be awarded to the winner. If you would
like to enter a pot of chili, please call the church office or see Lewis
Jones.

Trunk or Treat Wednesday, October 28 7-8 pm

Children are invited to bring their candy buckets and visit cars for
treats and games!
But we need YOUR help. We have LOW participation in both levels
of involvement. WE NEED YOU! You can participate in the
following ways:
1. Decorate a car. Sunday School classes, small groups or
individuals are invited to decorate a car (you can enter more than one
car, just make sure you have two people to man each vehicle). The
children's committee has many ideas to help get your creative ideas
flowing. You may even consider hosting a game or snack from your
vehicle (FBC already has a corn hole or other carnival style games you
can use). Sign up on the sheet in your Sunday School folder. Prizes
will be awarded again this year... and will be bigger and better!
2. Donate candy. We are asking cars to bring some candy, but we
need so much more! Please drop off individually wrapped candy to
the bucket outside the church office.

Winter Retreats
We are making plans for a couple of retreats during
the upcoming winter break. Middle school students
have the opportunity to attend MOVE, December 2829 in Macon. The cost is $75 for the two-day event.
You can reserve your spot with a $50 deposit due by
Wednesday night, October 21st.
High school students have the opportunity to attend
the Strength to Stand conference January 16-18. The
total cost for this conference is $130. A $65 deposit
is due for this conference by Sunday, November 1st.
If you have any questions about these trips please feel
free to contact me.

Service Opportunities
We will be serving the Friendship House by
assembling pie boxes for their annual apple pie
fundraiser on Wednesday night November 14th.
They need 600 pie boxes assembled so come ready
this night to fold some boxes.
Also, October 28 is the Fall Festival. This is a great
night of outreach for our community. Make plans to
join in and serve our church.
