Hello, students and parents!

Welcome to Schupmann Elementary! 5th Grade is an exciting and challenging year, but with
hard work and a great attitude, it will surely be a success. I am Mrs. Arriaga, your 5th Grade
Science teacher. Ive been in education since 2009, and have served Red Oak ISD since
2014. We are excited for you to be a part of our Schupmann family!

5th Grade Science Course Overview:

1st Nine Weeks Organisms and Environment

2nd Nine Weeks Matter and Energy
3rd Nine Weeks Energy, Earth, and Space
4th Nine Weeks Force, STAAR Review, STEM Design

**STAAR Test for 5th Grade Science May 11, 2016

Much of our learning will take place in class, but students should expect a few
homework assignments per week, as well as at-home projects and end of unit tests.

Classroom Expectations:

In my classroom, attitude is everything. Students, you come to class every day with the
power to choose to be a leader, build relationships, and display integrity. I will ensure that
our class is safe, fun, and productive, but youve got to choose to have a positive attitude. I
have very high expectations for classwork and behavior, but I know you can rise to the
challenge!

Science Supplies:

Most of each students school supplies will be collected by your

homeroom teacher. Some supplies that are needed for any class will
remain with each student, and some supplies will be collected by
specific teachers for specific purposes. In Science, each student
will use one of their two composition notebooks to create an
interactive science notebook. We will start these notebooks on
Wednesday, August 26th.
