Functional Consultant Certain Ideas

Part 2
Best Practices to be followed during define phase:

Read and comprehend as much as possible on the existing business processes and challenges
currently faced by the client.

During the definition phase, first and foremost avoid defining the solution rather than the
requirement.

During the initial discussions with business, gather all potential requirements requested by
stakeholders. Later, analyze, evaluate and filter all the requirements so that only the essential
requirements remain.

Start gathering the non-functional requirements that are either requested by the client or imposed
by the technical constraint.

Build the glossary for the business terms used during the initial discussions and getting used in
the initial document. This will help both business and the project team to clear any ambiguity and to be on
same page.

Keep asking questions (to yourself) like - do I understand the business problem that the
requirement is trying to solve?
