Ph. D. Positions in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry

Department of Chemical Sciences at IISER Bhopal seeks motivated candidates for pursuing Ph.D.
programme in the fields of Theoretical/Computational Chemistry, Chemical Physics, and
Biophysics. Applicants should have a Masters Degree (or equivalent) in Physics, Chemistry,
Biology or a related science or engineering area with excellent academic record. There is no
deadline. Consideration of candidates will begin immediately and continue until the positions are
filled.

Research topics cover the following areas:

1. Theory and Simulation of Biological and Condensed Phase Systems: Large scale
simulations using various computational methods (such as molecular dynamics, Monte
Carlo, stochastic dynamics) to understand the physics of the interactions governing the
structure, function, and dynamics of bio-molecules (proteins and nucleic acids) at different
length and time scales and its coupling with the surrounding solvent environment; classical
and quantum simulations of simple and complex fluids.

2. Nanomaterials for Energy Applications (solar cells and solar fuels): Large scale
computational studies involving ground and excited state electronic structure calculations,
charge-transfer dynamics at interfaces in solar cells and ab initio design of solar fuels.
