Hands on Learning

Comprehensible Input
Techniques

It is a learning aid for students to learn

through the manipulation of objects by
physical means.
By Florian Winkler

Pictures
Pictures can promote emergent literacy &
sight word recognition, they can also help
children connect concepts with their lives.

Modeling
I will model for students how they are
expected to complete the task. This is
recommended in order to show completed
sample products and to show students
what is expected of them.

Graphs
Graphs give a visual representation of the
different numbers broken down by the
different content.

Maps
Children can tie the story into geography
by predicting where people traveled or
where events occurred. It also allows the
comparison of land features like terrain,
rivers, mountains, and oceans.

Overhead Projector
It is used to illustrate the use of
organizers, PowerPoints, and other
material to better teach the students.

Timelines
It is a great visual aid. It represents
events in sequence. It allows students to
better understand the order of what has
transpired and when.

Multimedia
Students respond very well and tend to
connect material with the use of
multimedia.

Demonstrations
Using demonstrations give students a
visual reference of how something is
done. This is an observation process that
helps visual learners.

Realia

It allows the students to experience

things in real time and relate with the real
world.
