It has a size of clenched fist.
Protected by double layered
membrane called pericardium.

Heart is conical in shape.

The space between two layers
are filled with pericardial fluid .

FUNTIONS OF HEART

Pumping the blood to various


parts of body for circulating
nutrients and oxygen.
Blood pumped to lungs for

Superior and inferior vena cava

oxygenated blood to

PULMONARY ARTERY

deoxygenated blood from right
ventricle to lungs for
purification

PULMONARY VEIN

Blood vessel carry oxygenated


blood from lungs to left atrium.

Veins carry deoxygenated blood


from various body parts to right
atrium.

CONCLUSION
Heart pump blood to all parts of
the body . It work as a pump . The
structure of heart is well suitable
for its function . Higher
organisms have complex blood
vascular system compared to
lower organisms
