Introduction
English is one of the widely spoken languages around the world. For an engineer and
engineering student, English language frequency is important both in studies and
career. Engineering is one of the largest fields of study and many of the works of
research and academics are recorded in English. Without fluency in English,
engineering students may find it difficult to understand the concept being conveyed
by the authors. Also, many modules in engineering require writing academic reports.
Hence, a good fluency and grasp of English language is necessary.

Problem Statement
Nowadays, engineering students in UTHM are still considered low level usage of
English. Meanwhile, engineering industries need someone that communicates in
English efficiently. One of the factor is most probably students does not use English
as their communication medium.

Objectives

To study the importance of English to engineering students.

To study the importance of English to engineering industries.

Significance of the study

This study may help to identify the main problem in using English as communication
for engineering students.

Limitation of the study

This study may be limited to only interviews and questionnaire as the research
method.

Methodology
Methods that will be used in this study are interviews and questionnaire. The results
will be tabulated into graphs and charts.
