DuringandsincecompletingmyBAinLearningStudiesIhavebeenworkingasaPlay
LeaderforTopTotstogainpracticalexperienceofworkingwithchildren.This
experiencehasbeeninvaluableinputtingintopracticesomeoftheeducational
theoryIlearnedinmydegree.

InparticularIhavelearnedhowtorespondtoarangeofchildren'sneedsandto
understandthattheirbehaviourisnotalwaysarationalresponsetotheir
circumstances.Forexample,Iworkedwithachildwhowasbehavingaggressively
towardsotherchildrenandanotherwhowaswithdrawnandunsociable;through
playactivitiesIlearnedthatitwastheformerchildwholackedselfconfidenceand
whoneededthemostencouragementofanyinthegroup.

Mypreviousemploymentinartsadministrationandretailingdevelopedstrong
interpersonalskillsandmycapacitytodealwithmultipledemandsonmytimeand
resources.

Inretailworkitwasnotuncommontobedealingwithonecustomerasanother
soughthelpandasthephonebegantoring.

InartsadministrationIhadtobalancetherequirementsofthefundingbodieswith
theusersofthewebsitewhile,atthesametime,organisingexhibitionsandartists.I
foundthatIhaveboththestaminaandtheorganisationalabilitytothriveinthese
circumstancesandfeelsurethattheskillsIlearnedwillbeanassettoabusyprimary
school.

ThereasonIembarkeduponmydegreecourseisbecauseIhavealoveoflearning.I
wouldverymuchwelcometheopportunityofaninterviewtoexplainhowIcan
combinemyenthusiasmforlearning,artanddramaforthebenefitofchildreninour
community.
