Course description: This course involves a careful examination of
American government as a tool of educational learning. Emphases are
on development of basic governmental skills, visualization, and solution of social development. It is an exploratory, course in the study of America government designed primarily for students to explore the past, present and future as a lifelong skill set Organization: This is an 10th grade Local and National government class in which the instructor presents topics. Practice skills are explained and hands-on experience is expected from each student on a regular basis. Students will complete reading and writing assignments both during class periods and outside of class. Objectives and assignments are given daily, and there will be end of the year state final exam. Helpful materials and supplies: Pencils, blue and/or black pens, and ahighlighter; In addition, you will need a three or five star notebook (200 sheets, 5 subject, 10 in 8 in) for writing assignments and activities. Classwork and Homework: Students who are absent are responsible for the work missed while out of class. It is the students responsibility to get the assignment and turn it in without being personally reminded by the teacher. All make-up work (including tests) will be due according Bowie high school policy. (3 days to turn in late or missing assignments, with an excused yellow pass from the front office for full credit. Partial credit for late work without excused pass- 3 days) Social Studies Grade Policy: 25%-Homework 25%-Classwork/Participation 50%-Performance Based Assessments/Formative Assessments TOTAL = 100%
