ONE DAY FREE CONFERENCES IN BARNSLEY, BIRMINGHAM AND
MANCHESTER

Innovative Teaching And Learning In Functional Maths At

Entry Level Three And Level One
This is a unique opportunity to attend a free one-day conference on the teaching and
learning of Functional Maths.
This conference is being led by four very experienced and qualified teachers of Functional
Maths and includes two Principal Examiners of Entry Level Functional Maths and authors of
exam questions at Entry Level and Level one in Functional Maths.
The conference is the culmination of a year-long project aimed at developing a suite of
active-learning resources appropriate for teaching Functional Maths at Entry Level Three
and Level One. Northern College of Adult Education has taken the lead on the project in
conjunction with LSIS as part of the Flexibility and Innovation Fund.
The resource bank developed as a result of the project contains 30 activity packs [15 at each
level] and has been produced in paper-based and online formats.
The aim of the conference is to introduce, trial and disseminate these resources. Participants
will have the opportunity to try out a sample of the resources at both levels across number,
measures, shape & space and handling data.
Each participant will receive a certificate of attendance, a pack containing 6 activity packs
which are ready for photocopying and a CD Rom of all 30 activity packs.
