Intensify the ongoing movement against the

UGCs decision to scrap the Non-NET Fellowship

Students Union 2015-16 appeals to all the students and progressive student organizations to
intensify the ongoing student movement against the draconian move of the UGC and MHRD to
scrap the Non-NET fellowship in the name of promoting merit based fellowship. Students
Union, in its letter dated 21st Oct 2015 urged UGC, MHRD and President of India to take back
the decision of scrapping the Non-NET fellowship as it will have adverse impact on the students
coming from disadvantaged and marginalized section of the society. Students Union is also
conducting signature campaign in various hostels to form a larger opinion against this decision of
UGC. We also express our solidarity with all the students and student body protesting all across
the country (NEHU, JNU, Jamia, Delhi University, Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi
Vishwavidyalay Vardha and other Universities).
Students Union held a protest gathering on 23 rd Oct 2015 at Shopping Complex where
several other organizations also expressed its strong dissent with the decision to scrap the NonNET fellowship and we gave solidarity to the students of Delhi protesting at the UGC office. We,
hereby inform the student community of our firm resolve to lead the struggle without any
dilution of the stand. We have contacted the students/organizations in and around Hyderabad like
EFLU and MANUU to join us in order to make a larger platform to resist the decision to curb the
Non-NET fellowship.
The Students Union 2015-16 hereby gives a call to all the Students/Progressive and
Democratic students organizations to join us in Chalo UGC (Regional Office, Hyderabad) on
27th Oct 2015. The timing and transport arrangement will be informed to the student community
shortly.
