Not only the scenic beauty of the hills, landscape, small waterfalls, the colorful &
fresh breathing surrounding or the journey of shuttle train but also for environment
that to lead pupil to go and thrive in diverse areas, from job market to
entrepreneurship to research or enlightening people through education, University
of Chittagong upholds the head of the nation by its all round virtue.

The University of Chittagong located in Fatehpur Union, Hathazari Upazila about 22

kilometers north of the Chittagong city around 1753.88 acres of hilly and flat land,
which is one of the largest universities by campus area in Bangladesh. University of
Chittagong established in 1966 and has approximately 23,876 students and 899
faculty members, 348 officers, enriched with 8 faculties, 43 departments, 7 institute,
5 research centre, 22 affiliated colleges, and 12 halls. The University Library is one of
the biggest in Bangladesh and its collection consists of about 3.5 lakh volumes of
books and over 40,000 bound volumes of journals. The Chittagong University
Museum was established in 1973 at the initiative of the University Authority which
accelerates advanced learning by the provision of materials and facilities for
research, also aims to stimulate public interest and encourages understanding and
appreciation of the history, archaeology and art heritage of Bangladesh The
university has own transportation facility. Shuttle Train is one of the main attractions
of this university.
 CUMUNA
Chittagong University Model United Nations Association was formed in March 2014 and is
promoting a distinguished platform of intellectual practices among the students of
Chittagong University comprising the Southern Bangladesh, facilitating to learn the use of
diplomacy and negotiation practically, affiliating the students with the corporate world,
raising professionalism among the students, involving the students of Chittagong University
directly with United Nations, growing the importance of national and international
networking among the students.

CUMUNA is rising proudly with its aim and vision. With a view to emphasize MUN concept
among the 22,000 students of Chittagong University, Team CUMUNA has been organizing
‘MUN Literacy Sessions’ since March 31st, 2014. CUMUNA also arrange mock MUN sessions and
workshops for the general members of CUMUNA in a regular basis. These sessions are open
for all and anyone can join in the sessions. When it is time for a MUN conference, CUMUNA also
arranges workshops for the delegation team. These mocks really help the participants
boosting up their confidence and encourage them to be a better performer.

Delegation from CUMUNA participate in various national and international MUN competitions
and they are bringing pride by achieving awards and good performance.

After 5 years of significant journey of CUMUN 2015, CUMUN 2016, CUMUN 2017 ,
CUMUN 2018 and CUMUN 2019. I would like to congratulate Chittagong University
Model United Nations Association for organizing their 6th ever International
Model UN conference - "Chittagong University Model United Nations 2020" in
University of Chittagong. I am happy to see that CUMUNA has opened a new
route to promote our students' interest in the world around them and expanded
a student's knowledge in negotiation, public speaking, problem-solving,
research and communication. I believe, the theme which is selected for CUMUN
2020 "Involving youth to Rejuvenate the Global Response on Combating Climate
Change" is very relevant to contemporary global affairs.

We are already passing a marginal period of the Sustainable Development

Goals timeline. It is the proper time to find out the challenges of the Sustainable
Development Goals and take drastic steps to resolve the problems. The youths
have to know and let others know the way to fight against the obstacles to
ensure global peace. So, I believe it's a tremendous measure to engage the
youths with such concept.

I hope CUMUN 2020 will play a notable role to redefine the pledge of today's
youth for assuring peace in the world through the event. I strongly believe,
creating this milestone, CUMUNA will come up with successive sessions of
CUMUN in the future years. I wish Chittagong University Model United Nations
Association (CUMUNA), a future glory and success.

consecutively named as "Chittagong University Model United Nations 2020
(CUMUN’ 20)". This is a unique platform for the brilliants where they usually learn
public speaking, debating, and writing skills, as well critical thinking, teamwork,
and leadership abilities. This organization also helps students to learn about
diplomacy, international relations, development issues and the United Nations.
It uplifts their confidence and helps them to become a responsible person. The
theme of CUMUN’ 20 is, "Involving Youth to Rejuvenate the Global Response in
Combating Climate Change ", which I believe a very timely issue. Because,
global warming has become now a serious phenomenon which is posing a
threat to the very existence of mankind. There is a very little time left to prevent
effects of climate change that cause "untold suffering". I believe the world youth
should come forward and involve in combating climate issue. I fell very happy
and proud to see my students here who are competent enough to arrange
such a prestigious conference on this topic which is upholding the pride of our

It is my pleasure to know that Chittagong University Model United Nations

Association (CUMUNA) is going to organize its 6th Model UN conference. We
have come to know that it is the biggest Model UN conference in the southern
part of Bangladesh. CUMUNA started their successful journey of MUN
conference in 2015. As a knowledge partner of this endeavor, UNIC Dhaka feels
honored to be associated in this UN simulation.

UNIC Dhaka has been playing an important role in the MUN movement in
Bangladesh since 2002. Being an information and communication outlet of the
United Nations, UNIC Dhaka believes that Model UN platform will give an
opportunity to the youngsters to learn the art of diplomacy and to research
pressing global challenges. We need to invest on youth leadership. The theme of
the conference, “Involving youth to Rejuvenate the Global Response on
Combating Climate Change” will help the students to get better perspective of
the ongoing scenario of the global crisis.

UN emphasizes on the contribution of the youth regarding the improvisation

and invention of new policies on the theme. With the theme of CUMUN 20, young
generation can contribute to a resolution to meet the global challenges
including climate change crisis. I am sure, at the end of the event, a quality
change will make happen in the mind set up of the participants that will
contribute to uphold climate.

The Trustee Board would like to congratulate Chittagong University Model United Nations Association
for organizing CUMUN 2020. When we started our journey, we were only voyagers of a long path. I’d like
to mention some names here. Along with the present trustee board members, we had 4 other Founder
members, who’ with the course of their life, are now successfully busy in their own career. Mr. Toukir
Akash, Mr. Monjur Sajal, Ms. Fatema Tuz Zohora Tarin and Mr. Sirajuddin Ayaz had notable contributions
to what CUMUNA is today.
CUMUN was a vision, but this vision became a reality through the organizing of CUMUN 2015. The legacy
of that vision we had imagined continued through CUMUN 2016, CUMUN 2017, CUMUN 2018, CUMUN 2019
and finally now through a platform where the youths will stand together for Rejuvenating the Global
Response on Combating Climate Change, CUMUN 2020.
The Board of Trustees of CUMUNA would like to emphasize on the proper balance between the delegate
fee and the provided service in a Model United Nations Conference should be proportionate with the
Delegate fee. Because we believe that MUN is not a money-making machine. Because if there is an
imbalance between the delegate fee and conference service, then MUNs will lose their overall
acceptance and merely be a luxury for the aristocracy.
We would like to add that, academics and learning in the committee sessions should be more focused
in an MUN conference. The endeavors of the committee sessions should not be confined to the four
days of committee sessions and network building only. The delegates should be made aware of the
fact that each and every delegate has their own unique attributes and these qualities should be
nurtured into the point of greatness. That would be the ultimate success of an adjudicator and
contribute to the noble act of creating leadership.
We dream for an MUN community which will work together for a better future for the community. We
truly believe for an MUN conference where delegates will be all in all, excluding biasness, with no
underestimating, nor heartbreaking for awards.

supported us from time to time and the hardworking administration of University of Chittagong, who
have extended their hand of cooperation from the day one.

Since 2014, Chittagong University Model UN Association has been one of

the pioneer of Model UN practice and played a pivotal role in the
wide-spread exercise of the healthy culture of Model UN across
Bangladesh. And the journey started in CUMUN 2015 remains in the same
track with the same philosophy.

For us, Model UN has always been a noble practice which requires
relentless efforts and boundless knowledge. With that commitment in our
heart, I along with my whole secretariat, would like to welcome you all to
the sixth edition of Chittagong University Model United Nations starting
from January 29 – February 01 of 2020.

With 400+ youths from around the globe and a dedicated secretariat
body steadfast in delivering the highest level of hospitality and academic
exposure, I believe, CUMUN 2020 will be another story of continuance of the
legacy that has started in 2015. With these few notes, I would like to

Since embarking its’ journey from 31st March 2014, CUMUNA is not only a
platform to uphold the aptitudes, to showcase the skills and to volunteer
for the betterment of the students but rather an organization where the
unique strength of togetherness and a family like bonding among the
members help to rediscover the latent talent, to be the enlightened

Chittagong University Model United Nations 2020. Our aim is to follow our
tradition to present you with an amazing journey of four days with great
hospitality in our beautiful campus of University of Chittagong.
This year our theme is “Involving youth to rejuvenate the global response on
combating climate change.” I welcome you to come to our beautiful land of
evergreen scenic beauty to join and kindle the fire of generating ideas to solve
this threat upon our climate, our planet, all its species and our very existence. I
hope and believe with hardcore debate, practice of negotiation, the leader and
diplomat in you will get to acknowledge your potential on a different light and

of diplomacy, debate and negotiation of CUMUN 2020. After five glorious benchmarks, CUMUNA is set
to hold its sixth edition of conference at our green imperial of learners, University of Chittagong. This
conference holds a very significant and noteworthy role for commencing the model UN practice in
the port capital of Bangladesh. The inception to now our club is playing an important exigence to
organize top-notch youth congregation with its hardworking secretariat team hailing from
University of Chittagong. We, the 'Team Delegate Affairs', will be glad and honored to host the

Immensely thankful to my mentors, the whole secretariat and especially the team which

responsibility of Under Secretary General in the department of "Finance", which that

Since 2015, CUMUNA has been organizing a significant event each year for the
Students at South where your latent quality will be flourished, your skill will be
furnished, your stock of knowledge will be enriched, your network will be
outspread and so on.

This is Mohammad Abdullah; welcoming you all to the sixth edition of Chittagong
University Model United Nations, CUMUN2020.
The young population across the globe has reached a remarkable 1.2 billion out of 7.7
billion, and most of them live in developing countries like Bangladesh. The globe will
attain salvation from global warming mostly by the mass contribution of this large
number of youths. Keeping that in mind, we have set our agenda in such a way that
the youths can feel the necessity of protecting the environment and combating
global warming. I hope we will achieve our objectives regarding this.
I want to thank my fellow secretariats of CUMUN2017, CUMUN2018, CUMUN2019 and
CUMUN2020 for many wonderful memories and kind cooperation in these years. I
wish CUMUN will continue its success in upcoming years too.

There is a common saying which is "If you want to do something big, you need to think
big". Having the thought in mind, Chittagong University Model United Nations Association
is working for the improvement of the students of University of Chittagong in part of Extra
Curricular Activities since 2014. Not only being indulged in the green premise of this
University, the members of this organization have achieved many successes outside of
this University border. This association is doing best outside of this University border but it
is more successful in the area of this University by organizing 5 International Model United
Nations Conferences named as CUMUN and one Intra Model UN conference.
This year, in 2020 CUMUNA is going to organize its Signature event for the 6th time named
as CUMUN 2020. Since 2017 I have got the opportunity to be a part of organizing body. In
this year, may be role is bigger but the dream remains the same and that is to make the
Conference a successful one. I wish a very best of luck to the whole secretariat as well as

It’s my pleasure to welcome you to the sixth edition of CUMUN. A platform for two things,
learning and practicing. Where students from around the Globe participate in a truly
International competition, discussing the burning issues of our generation and
formulating policies to tackle them. CUMUN’s have always been the benchmark of
academic excellence, we constantly work to keep a high standard and envision ways to
improve on the foundation.
This year our focus is mainly on Climate Change, the biggest challenge for our
generation.
Generating ideas to attain development in a sustainable way and transitioning from the
usage of fossil fuels to renewable energy.
And of course, the campus of Chittagong University, largest in the country, you’re
welcome to explore it all. A place like no other, get lost in the greenery and find yourself
anew. See you in Chittagong University Model United Nations 2020, the epitome of
excellence.

Assalamualaikum,
First of all, thanks to the Almighty and then CUMUNA for giving me the opportunity to be
part of CUMUN20 Secretariat.
My journey in CUMUN started with CUMUN16 being the officer of conference
management. This journey continues and this time I feel proud to work as the UGS of
Corporate Affairs for CUMUN20. It is my utmost pleasure to welcome you all to CUMUN20,
the 6th edition of Chittagong University Model United Nations Association's (CUMUNA)
signature event.
I would like to thank my Corporate Affairs teammates for their dedication and hardwork.
I want to render my respect towards the founders of CUMUNA because of whom we got
this platform.

It’s my utmost pleasure to welcome you all to the sixth edition of Chittagong University
model
United Nations conference, which is CUMUN 2020. This year the theme is “Involving Youth
to rejuvenate the global response on combating climate change” Whether it’s about the
levels of pollution in the capital Dhaka or Australia’s fires in the Amazon rainforest, the
damage to the environment has been immense. I believe that this is the high time youths
increase their interest to learn how to fight against the challenges regarding climate
change. I would like to welcome you all in CUMUN’20 to take the route of learning the art
of public speaking, diplomacy, problem solving, research & negotiation and
expanding the knowledge about the current world issues. The green castle of
Bangladesh, University of Chittagong is ready with its shuttle train to create a new edition
of your MUN diary.

Chittagong University Model United Nations has been one of the most eminent Model UN
conferences since 2015. It has always been an honor for me to be a part of this glorious
event. I would like to humbly welcome you all to the Sixth edition of this signature event
CUMUN’2020 of Chittagong University Model United Nations Association.
Since the beginning of this journey in 2015, the secretariat members of CUMUN has always
tried to make sure that the delegate gets what they expect from a MUN Conference.
Without any change, the secretariat members are ready to provide the participants with
the highest level of hospitality and academics. This year our theme is “Involving Youth to
Rejuvenate the Global Response on Combating Climate change”. Last year we saw the
massive fire in Amazon, increase of temperature, bushfire in Australia etc. which is a clear
indication of negative impact of climate change. We believe it is the high time for the
youth to engage in this burning issue for a better future.
Lastly, I would like to thank my teammates Raihan Rahman Shihan, Towfiq Khan Toki, Nihal
Hasnain and Mobashira Tazneen for their utmost support and hard work.
