Children Health Science Departement Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo
Hospital, Jakarta

ABSTRACT
Background : Compliance is a complex problem dan multifactor which can affect therapy
result. While impact of non-compliance in someone can make fault in assessing drug
effectiveness, diagnostic test, drug modification or replacement and treatment in Hospital
which is no needed.
Goals : find out the characteristic of out-patient in doing their obidience of short-range
antibiotics.
Methods : Desciptive analytic research with slice transverse study, done in General Polyclinis
of IKA Departement RSCM for 12 weeks (february-april 2008) to all patients parents aged 1
month 18 years who get therapy short-range antibiotics. Sample is taken by consecutive
samplingly, data is treated by SPSS 12 for windows program.
Result : 82 subjects follow this research. The number of compliance in doing short-range
antibiotic treatment is 75,6%. There is a strength correlation between forget and busy
with someone non-compliance.
Conclusion

: The number of compliance in doing short-range antibiotic treatment is

75,6%.forget and busy factors are the biggest factors that can affect obidience of drinking
drugs.
BACKGROUND
Compliance is a complex problem dan multifactor which can affect therapy result.
While impact of non-compliance in someone can make fault in assessing drug effectiveness,
diagnostic test, drug modification or replacement and treatment in Hospital which is no
needed. This research is done in aim to find out the characteristic of out-patient in doing their
obidience of short-range antibiotics.

METHODS
Desciptive analytic research with slice transverse study, done in General Polyclinis of
IKA Departement RSCM for 12 weeks (february-april 2008) to all parents who visit the
General Polyclinis and also get therapy short-range antibiotics.
Sample is taken consecutive samplingly with giving questioner to every parents who
dont mind to follow this research. After get informed consent, subject who is suitable with the
research criteria will recommended to come back the next 5-6 days and bring the rest
antibiotics which is drunk. If at the appointmented day patient dont come, so filling the
questioner is done by telephone. Then questioner is tested its validity dan reliability to 10
respondens to essess whether questioner can be understood or not. The result of realibility test
is r alpha result > r alpha table that is 1,68 > 0,71.
Data is treated with SPSS 12. Relation between 2 qualitative variables in analysis
with Chi Square test and Fischer's exact test with alpha = 0,05. Further analysis to see the
strenghtness/correlation between free variables is done with logistics regresi test with belief
interval is 95%. mark p is meningfull if p > 0,05.
RESULT
Along the research period, there are 719 patients who come for therapy, only 94 subjects who
fulfill the criteria. Along the researchs happening, there are 12 subjects drop out so there are
only left 82 subject to be inspected. Between 82 subjects who are inspected, there are 24 datas
got by interview directly in General Polyclinic while 58 subjects are got by telephone
interviewed.

DISCUSSION
The number of 75,6% compliance in doing short-range antibiotic treatment is
appropriate with Cockburn, that is 75% for number of compliance in using short-range
antibiotic for patient in General polyclinic. Compliance is really depend on frequency of

giving drugs per day, if drugs give more often so the patient will not obey the rule of giving
drugs. Bitterness of drug doesnt affect obedience of drinking drugs for children decrease.
Flavor is problem for teenage and adult patients who can make differences of drug flavor.
CONCLUSION
The number of compliance in doing short-range antibiotic treatment is 75,6%. The
lower number is made by many factors which can affect obidience of drinking drugs. forget
and busy factors are the biggest factors that can affect obidience of drinking drugs. Parents
who is forgetful and busy have high risk to not obey.
