N ovember

Hi friends!
The end of October went by in the
blink of an eye and now Chicago is
already decorated for Christmas! To get
in the holiday spirit, recently a group
from our staff volunteered at Chicago's
annual Hot Chocolate 5k/ 15k Run where
they came together and worked side by
side with Loyola's chapter of Alpha
Sigma Alpha. Partnering with other
student organizations is a great way to
share what we do at GlobeMed. To
promote GlobeMed on campus, we have
had great success this month selling
empanads, all proceeds will go to our
partner Jambi Huasi.

In light of recent events,

both those domestically
and abroad, stress on
social justice is needed
now more than ever.
GlobeMed at Loyola
partnered with SOS
(St udent s Organize f or
Syria at Loyol a
Universit y Chicago) to hold an event
where we had the privilege of hosting Dr.
Zaher Sahloul, president of the Syrian
American Medical Society (also known as
SAMS). Dr. Sahloul discussed the major
impacts on public health in Syria due to
the crisis. He also explained what goes
into saving lives both in Syria and
countries like Jordan where refugees are
located. Thanks again SOS!
