Typhoon Haiyan
RELIEF
On Saturday November 23rd, 2013, Millburn High School students rallied together to raise money for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. The typhoon struck earlier in the month and killed almost six thousand people, making it one of the largest storms in world history. In the past, Millburn High School students have made efforts to help with other major disasters, including the earthquake and tsunami in Japan in 2011 and the Haiti earthquake in 2010, so of course we had to contribute to the relief effort in the Philippines. Key Club allied with several other MHS clubs including Red Cross Club, Far East Asian Club and the senior class, with a lot of help from Ms. Siegel and other faculty members. Saturday morning, we congregated in the MHS guidance office and then walked into town with empty cans and boxes of t-shirts. We stood on the streets of downtown Millburn and asked people walking by if they had any change to donate to the cause. Generally, people were generous and gave us what they could. Also, we did end up selling some t-shirts, which were designed by sophomore Shannon Peng, for $10.00. We will be selling shirts into the first week of December, so contact an officer if you want to buy one! All profits will be going to the Typhoon Haiyan relief effort!

th
ANNIVERSARY
By Webmaster Sofia Fernandez Photography by Sofia Fernandez and Darren Khong
On Saturday November 16th, Millburn Public Library celebrated its 75th Anniversary and our Key Clubbers had the opportunity to help organize and attend this exciting event. From 9:30am to 3:00pm. people not only took out or returned books but also enjoyed the events that were set up all around the library. Children could go to the rainbow looming and professional face painting stations while adults could meet bestselling author Beatriz Williams. In addition, there was free food and a great performance from a choir from the Paper Mill. We had a lot of fun helping the library and the coordinators were great to work with!
REMINDER
The deadline for official registration has passed. Look out for the second Christmas round of the annual Holiday Food Drive! Thanks for volunteering at the fantastic first Thanksgiving round! All unsold Entertainment Books and money should be returned to the officers immediately.
